City of the Monkey God Located? [PHOTOS\VIDEO]

City of the Monkey God Located? [PHOTOS\VIDEO], The legendary "City of the Monkey God" or "White City" has allegedly been located in Honduras. The discovery of untouched ruins deep in the jungle are believed to be thousands of years old, reports National Geographic.

Researchers believe the complex of plazas, mounds, a pyramid and dozens of artefacts belong to the civilization that vanished without a trace.

It was supposedly spotted from the air in the 1920s by Charles Lindbergh and became the subject of repeated attempts to reach it. Until now, no-one had offered irrefutable proof of the existence of the mythical Ciudad Bianca (White City).

Traveling into uncharted territory last month, a National Geographic team discovered the mounds of white rubble in the shape of a monkey's skull.

According to legend, the city is full of gold and has been sought out by explorers and treasure hunters since the legendary conquistador Cortes first made reference to it in a 1526 letter to King Charles V of Spain.

Now that the site has been "ground truthed" by the expedition, additional work is being planned to secure its contents while its location is kept secret to protect it from looters.

17-pound gold nugget found [PHOTO\VIDEO]

17-pound gold nugget found [PHOTO\VIDEO], Picture it! China, 2015. You are walking along and practically stumble over a 17-pound (7.85 kilograms) gold nugget. Such a occurrence would probably have to be considered improbable at best.

However that is exactly how it played out for one farmer in the Xinjiang region of China.

The lucky sun-of-a-gun Kazak herdsman, Berek Sawut, from Qinghe County in Altay Prefecture made the incredible find around 5 p.m. last Friday. The estimated price for such an extraordinary discovery, assuming the nugget is 80 percent pure (Nuggets are usually 80 to 90 percent pure), is a handsome 1.6 million yuan (255,313 U.S. dollars) based upon the latest gold price.

The Xinjiang region has over 600 gold mines in operation; last year they produced a combined lode of gold equaling 20 tons. The Examiner reports about the Altay region of China and its “golden” history.

While Sawuk indicates he has not been contacted by any government representative over the ownership of the nugget, JobsnHire reports that the 17-poud gold nugget may legally be the property of the state due to current to Chinese law.

By Mike Baron

Samuel Adams; Paul Revere's 1795 time capsule contents revealed [PHOTOS\VIDEO], Not that long ago we published a story about a time capsule buried by patriots Paul Revere and Samuel Adams at the Massachusetts Statehouse in 1795 was unearthed in Boston recently.

The box-shaped capsule was placed under the cornerstone of the building by Adams, the Revolutionary leader who was then governor, joined by Paul Revere and William Scollay, a Boston businessman.

Yesterday at a press conference at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the contents were revealed.

History.com writes: Among the first items removed from the time capsule yesterday were folded newspapers, which Hatchfield stated were in “amazingly good condition.” There were five of them in all, including copies of the Boston Bee and Boston Traveller. Then came some 23 coins, in denominations of “half-cent,” penny, quarter, dime and half-dime. Some dated to the mid-19th century, while others were from 1795; a so-called “Pine Tree Shilling” dated to 1652. In addition, the box contained a copper medal with George Washington’s image and the words “General of the American Army”; a seal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; and a title page from the Massachusetts Colony Records. Finally, Hatchfield removed a silver plate with fingerprints still on it, bearing an inscription dedicating the State House cornerstone on the 20th anniversary of American independence in July 1795.

“This cornerstone of a building intended for the use of the legislative and executive branches of the government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was laid by his Excellency Samuel Adams, Esquire, governor of the said Commonwealth,” Michael Comeau, executive director of the Massachusetts Archives, read from the plate’s inscription to the assembled crowd, adding “How cool is that.” The plate is thought to be the work of Paul Revere, the master metalsmith and engraver turned Revolutionary hero who placed the time capsule alongside Adams and William Scollay, a colonel in the Revolutionary War.

It took nearly sixty minutes to remove all the items from the time capsule. MFA conservators will now work on preserving the contents, which will likely go on display at the museum later this year.

According to Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin, the time capsule will eventually be returned to the cornerstone, but it is unknown at this time whether state officials will add any new objects to it before burying it again.
